Audio Forge 1.4.0 is here, and it’s a big one. This release focuses on speed, clarity, and creative control. On larger screens, the brand‑new Unified View puts your core tools side‑by‑side. Transitions are now fully customizable with direct Freesound downloads and in‑app editing. And the whole app feels smoother and lighter thanks to a refreshed theme and animation pass.
Unified View (Split View) on iPad, Tablets and Desktop
The previous layout showed the Anvil wheels (Music & Ambiance) and required using bottom navigation to reach Echoes (one‑shot sounds). On bigger screens, like iPads, external displays, tablets and desktop, Unified View places both in a split view with a draggable handle so you can keep everything visible at once.
- Two panes, one workflow: Anvil (Music & Ambiance wheels) on one side, Echoes (one‑shots) on the other.
- Drag to resize: Adjust the divider on the fly to match your focus.
- Fully responsive: Works in both portrait and landscape; wheels dynamically resize to vertical or horizontal space.
- Built for live play: Less tabbing, faster cues, smoother scene management.
Custom Epic Transitions (Your Sounds, Your Style)
Epic transitions used to be five static, built‑in effects. In 1.4.0, transitions are fully customizable:
- Enable/disable any of the built‑ins individually.
- Add your own transition files.
- Download new transitions directly from Freesound without leaving the app.
- Do quick in‑app edits: trim and adjust gain for perfect balance.
To time transitions precisely, Audio Forge automatically detects the waveform crest of the file and aligns the category switch to that peak. Example: if a transition file is 8 seconds long and the crest is at 4 seconds, the actual category switch happens ~4 seconds after you tap the new category, right on the impact.
Result: seamless, dramatic scene changes that match your table’s pacing and taste.
A Lighter Look and Smoother Feel
- New Light theme for bright spaces and daytime sessions.
- Refined animations for clearer feedback without getting in the way.
- Numerous polish and performance tweaks across the app for a snappier feel.
Why It Matters for GMs and Streamers
- Faster execution: Keep music, ambiance, and one‑shots visible and ready.
- Cleaner transitions: Hit the right moment with crest‑timed switching.
- Less friction: Edit, balance, and source transitions in one place.
- Flexible visuals: Choose the theme that fits your setup and lighting.

If you’re new to Audio Forge, it’s a flexible, GM‑friendly soundboard for TTRPGs that makes it easy to organize libraries, layer music and ambiance, trigger one‑shots, and save full scenes with State Links. 1.4.0 doubles down on that mission with speed, control, and clarity.
